Real weddings

Jlenia + Alessandro

09 January 2023

Mid May, land of Sicily.

A trip from North to South to photograph the wedding of Jlenia, from Sicily, and Alessandro, from Milan.

We arrived the evening before the wedding day and immediately the bride, groom and their warm family welcomed us at the airport and took us to eat arancini in Ragusa!

The scents, the colors, the Sicilian flavors captured me immediately, in addition to the generosity and elegant frankness of the Sicilians. I had confirmation of this the following day, when right from the celebration of the ceremony (touched is saying nothing) I perceived the warmth of the guests, the healthy desire to have fun and celebrate Jlenia and Alessandro, the unity between all those present: the bride and groom were truly their center.

And then…Sicily, the Sicilian light.

I chose to show you this wedding with a small selection of the many photos taken, preferring black and white for the reportage, and proposing their couple photographs based on the colors I saw in that land: orange, blue, lilac, green, sienna.

Enjoy.

Location: Villa Criscione, Ragusa

Location sulla spiaggia: Punta Secca

Colors

It was the theme of their wedding: the balloons, the ribbon on the bouquet, the writing on the stationery. Intense pink, because Sicily is intense.

Because Sicily is above all a land. A place.

Everywhere and declined in various shades: the sea, the water, the plants.

The branches of the trees lost in the blue, like corals in a seabed. The intense blue of the sky and the sea.

Sunset. Total.

And when the fire of the setting sun has retreated beyond the horizon, the light caress of pastel colors.

And here they are, all together. Ready to throw the balloons up, like Jlenia and Alessandro’s promise of the future to come.
